8550 won't print with mac using adobe illustrator 10

on phaser 8550 when printing from illustrator 10, i used to have to plug/unplug usb cable before each print.

that would solve the hanging "receiving print job"

i recently bought a new USED 8550 and it won't print at all from illustrator.

just hangs at "receiving print job"

i can save the file as PDF then open it in acrobat and print from there - that's my workaround.

though it's very frustrating to have to save as and then open new program and reformat.

i'm using Mac 10.6.8

xerox print driver 2.0.14

please help.
